Rolf Schock Prizes

The Rolf Schock Foundation

In his will, Dr. Rolf Schock, who died in 1986, specified that half of his estate should be used to fund four prizes in the fields of logic and philosophy, mathematics, the visual arts, and music.

The Rolf Schock Prizes were first awarded in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1993. Each recipient is currently awarded SEK 400,000 (ca. US $60,000).

Ritator were asked to design an identity for the prizes. The four contrasting subject areas are suggested visually through the combination of geometric shapes and lines, which also form the initials RSP.

The identity nods to both musical notation and the abacus. The four disciplines are also suggested through the use of four distinct colours.
